Nearly five decades ago, I joined a remarkable family here at UCLA. In 1959, our university was only 40 years old, and enrollment had yet to reach 20,000. Over the years, I have witnessed many changes across campus. However, as much as some things change, others remain the same – such as our dedication to excellence.

We owe thanks for UCLA’s broad, enriching educational experience not only to our extraordinary faculty and students but also to the university’s close, supportive friends. We are privileged to have many partners in this important enterprise, such as The UCLA Foundation and the generous philanthropists it represents. Together, through our quest for new knowledge, we are building a better world.
